Margaret Donaldson Boehm was born in Baltimore, MD in 1894. She attended Roland Park Country School and later The Johns Hopkins University where she was a student of Arthur O. Raymond Dexter Havens, educator and author, was born in Rochester, New York in 1880. In 1925, he joined The Johns Hopkins University faculty as Caroline Donovan Professor of English, a post he held until his retirement in 1949.
